Geraldine is married to her husband Mr. John Hoye, has two children Ivan Shije and Tracilee Gutierrez whom are also talented and creative. She is the grandmother of Juliana Desideria Shije, an energetic, creative, caring, and gentle young soul. She keeps grandma on her toes for sure. Geraldine teaches her granddaughter about traditional/modern art as she has taught her children. Geraldine was raised in San Ildefonso Pueblo by her Grandmother Isabel and Uncle Gilbert. She carries on in the traditional manner of San Ildefonso Pueblo painting and pottery. She has grown artistically and began to produce serving ware for traditional feast days or personal use for home. She also has created ornaments that can be used during the holidays or everyday decoration. The use of colors used in her art work are amazingly intense, it’s almost as if the pictures were real life. Dance figures are her favorite theme, as well as the traditional serpent (avanyu) and eagle feathers and clouds. Geraldine hopes to open her own gallery when she retires from her job as a Vital Statistics Data Specialist with the Pueblo of Santa Clara.
